Fish Frys, Horseraces and Tornadoes… Oh my! – [DFW Dallas Wedding Photographer]

Last week, Kandi and I headed out to Mineola, Texas for what would be one of the most memorable weddings we’ve had all year. The bride and groom were totally laid back (which obviously fits very well with Kandice and I) and had a super cool wedding, complete with cake reception and Fish Fry! In place of dancing, they chatted and watched the horse races! It was so fun and different from any wedding we’ve ever shot together that it allowed us to try some really fun stuff!

First is the bride getting ready for her big day

Then she met with her bridesmaid who MADE the necklace the bride would wear. (and btw, Julie, I totally lost her card in the chaos that was the ride home – you’ll hear more about that in a minute, lol – so if you could comment on this and post a link to her etsy, that would rock!) The jewelry was downright stunning and matched the brides dress perfectly.

After the ceremony was a cake reception. They had their wedding cake…

and small cakes on every table. Each table cake was a different design and flavor, making for a fun cake-tasting challenge! The only downfall to so many cakes: You can’t stop eating cake until you’ve tried them all! (notice the sprinkles cupcakes in the background? No detail was missed, I tell ya!) And yes, the lime green item in the background is another table-cake.

Time for the cake cutting, before scooting out to do some photos of the newlyweds

Now here’s where the weather was good and bad. It was beautifully overcast that day. Did I mention that this wedding was on Saturday? Yeah, that day with all the storms and the collapsed Cowboys Practice Stadium and everything. The cloudiness was perfect for some outdoor detail shots like this

but it also made for a hectic trip back to Denton.

Right as the rain started to come in, we all scooted out of the cake reception

and headed towards the fish fry

And we wrapped up around 6:30, just in time to make it to Terrell before running into the worst of the storm. We were forced off the road by blinding rain and horrible lightning, but found a little Chinese Buffet to stop at and ride the storm out. You’ll have to ask Kandi how their egg rolls were, I was too riled up by the storm to actually eat LOL

Congratulations on your wedding, guys! I hope your honeymoon is a blast this summer!

WOW! Love the sneak peak & am so excited to see the rest! You are so talented & I’m soooo glad I was able to get y’all for the wedding (not sure if you knew, but one of the reasons I changed from a Fall to Spring wedding was because y’all were unavailable–no joke!!!)–our memories are priceless, and having these awesome pictures to go along with them just about moves me to tears!!! Such a sap! Thanks for all you do~and don’t ever change careers!!!

    XO,
    Julie (Corder!!)

*****Lisa, my new sister-in-law who made the stunning necklace, has the following

    Etsy address: LISABIIZU.ETSY.COM
She also has a blog: http://lisabizu.blogspot.com/

Her blog has lots more of what she does and can do…she has lots of her pieces at a consignment store right now,so Etsy may not do her justice!! Check out the blog–you won’t be sorry–she is self taught & doesn’t speak Japanese, but the majority of her pieces come from Japanese Beading books and are out of this world!!! Thanks for letting me promote her–she is a great friend, my “personal jeweler” and is now my sister!!! Love her, Love her!!
